Second Hand News : The Fleetwood Mac Tribute Band That Launched at Diamond Hawk

At Diamond Hawk, we love seeing great music take flight and few stories capture that better than the rise of Second Hand News, a Buffalo-based Fleetwood Mac tribute band that has quickly become one of Western New York’s most exciting acts. Recently featured in The Villager, the band continues to build momentum, and we’re proud that their journey started right here at Diamond Hawk.

A Band Born from Passion and a Spark of Inspiration

Second Hand News formed just last year, but the talent behind it has decades of combined musical experience. At the center is Katy Coster Burgler, lead vocalist and founding member, whose lifelong connection to music and especially to Stevie Nicks helped shape the group’s identity.

Katy’s musical roots run deep. From singing Madonna in her bedroom to joining school musicals and eventually performing with several Western New York bands, music has been her constant creative outlet. After years performing with the energetic and beloved band Wide Right, she envisioned a project that would both honor the legacy of Fleetwood Mac and give audiences a high-energy second act filled with popular dance hits.

Members of Wide Right joined her in the new venture, bringing exceptional chemistry, talent, and enthusiasm to the stage. Their shared passion, especially Katy’s love for the emotion and storytelling woven into Fleetwood Mac’s music, gave Second Hand News its unique soul.

The Band Behind the Sound

Second Hand News features an impressive roster of Western New York musicians:

  • Katy Coster Burgler – Lead vocals

  • Ed Berowski – Keys, with 40+ years of local music experience and an All WNY Music Award

  • Bob Taberski – Bass guitar and member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame

  • Mark Ricci – Lead guitar, contributing 25 years to the Buffalo music scene

  • Tom Brown – Drums, veteran session/touring musician, Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductee

  • Cris Papaj – Vocals/percussion, bringing rich harmonies and expressive depth

Their performances are designed in two acts:

Act I: A dedicated tribute to Fleetwood Mac
Act II: A party-ready mix of dance favorites that get crowds on their feet

Diamond Hawk: Their First Sold-Out Show

in the Villager feature, Katy expressed gratitude to Diamond Hawk—a shoutout that filled us with pride:

“We are incredibly grateful to Diamond Hawk in Cheektowaga. They gave us our first gig. We sold out and it was incredible. We continue to play there regularly.”

That electric, sold-out debut was a sign of what was to come. From there, Second Hand News quickly built a following, selling out venues throughout Western New York and delivering unforgettable performances everywhere they go.
